DUKE HITS THE BIG APPLE FOR NY INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT SHOW

The International Restaurant Show held in New York at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, March 1st-3rd

The Duke Marketing team headed to the Big Apple New York for the International Restaurant Show. "The show was packed with exhibitors, buyers, and samplers the first day and it was a good sign that restaurant operators were looking for answers in today's troubled economic times" said Linda Duke. Recipes for Restaurateurs- Duke's new marketing cookbook received lots of attention at the show with interviews from Pizza TV, MSNBC, and editors from several industry publications.

The first Education Session, "Fast Casual- Changing the way Consumer's Eat" was a big hit. Linda moderated a panel of Fast Casual operators:

Sunday night the Duke Team enjoyed dinner with some of the Genghis Grill team from Dallas at Ruby Foos. After dinner the team took a snowy ride to Greenwich Village to try out Joe's famous pizza.

Still hungry for more great food finds, the team chowed down on the irresistible pizza after dinner



After ten inches of snow fell, the show was a bit slower on Monday, but it gave Linda time to check out the pastry competition, new exhibitors on the show floor and unusual products.

Turning Your Vendors Into Your Partners, was a great panel discussion and Linda moderated representatives from Coca-Cola North America, U.S. Foodservice, the Blueberry Council, Rice Council and Avocados from Mexico. The audience was impressed with this particular session and walked away with some very applicable information.

Despite their very busy schedule in New York, Linda and Michael had some time to enjoy themselves in the city. They visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art and observed many works over thousands of years old. They sat down for a delicious dinner at Carmine's, a famous New York restaurant, and an all time Duke Marketing favorite. They also had HUGE New York style pastrami sandwiches and saw Mama Mia on Broadway. New York was an all around wonderful trip!
